I couldn’t justify putting this any of the current categories so I am uploading for interest only. This was an attempt at a very flat Norfolk Salt Marsh. I found the subject quite difficult because there was not much to get to grips with except the mud banks and some rushes in the foreground. I struggled with depicting shiny mud (what colour is it?). However I was not too displeased although I feel the scan doesn’t do the painting justice.
Based on a famous sculpture this was attempt no. 6 and the reason for the strange white bit bottom right was that it morphed into one of the other attempts, which I have tried to cover up with white paint. I have neither the ability or patience to clean it up in photoshop. Anyway, I really don’t like it but you should have seen versions 1-5 – they were much, much worse.
I wanted to contrast the cosiness of surburbia with the slight paranoia of the neighbourhood watch scheme . The watcher has ended up looking very unsinister which wasn’t my aim, my people never do what I want them to!
Here’s the first attempt, I didn’t use it because I thought the woman was too kindly looking.
