I tried to get the figures blurred to look as though they were rushing to work.commuting

img090An Ural Owl from Japan being absorbed by whatever Ural Owls from Japan are absorbed by (Japanese Ural Mice perhaps?)

img088Calves who will become Mothers.  Bit of a style departure for me here.  This is why I like the club so much, it is pushing all of our boundaries.

img089I went to Hampton Court to photograph the Daffodils and did the painting as well.  You can take it two ways either it’s of Daffodils absorbed in absorbing the sun or that Sue was so absorbed in photographing them she was not only on her knees at times but also lying flat out on the ground, oblivious to all the tourist milling around.  This was meant to be bright and a bit “daffodils in your face ish”

changeThis chameleon ( I think Campani) is in a state of change, it’s an angry male. I wanted to use some really bright colours and this was my chance, he really is these colours! (Well, as near as I could do.)

I was quite moved by the sadness of this picture – how intrusive of the press to print these images of a dying woman. I tried to capture how she must feel in this picture – I can see there are things wrong technically but this is my first real attempt at such a close up face.

Not mothers, I’m afraid, just one. Her hair looks a bit wild because it was a windy day. mum3
I was disappointed by the scan – it took all the colour out of my painting. I’ve tried using a photo instead, but I’m not sure it’s any better.
Only Dave will know that it’s close, but no cigar!

changeThat’ll be £1.36 change then. Do I see a pattern emerging  – if  in doubt paint a hand – my own in this case.

mothersI did try humans but gave up, they looked like robots. Sheep are more forgiving!

Forgot to post this last week, sorry. absorbtionWe went to visit some friends, and Daniella is a great young artist. Here she is completely absorbed in drawing a bowl of fruit. I tried to persuade her to join the club. Her watercolour of a piglet is excellent. Daniella lent me the paper for this sketch, and I used the wrong side of the paper, so the paint didn’t go on very well.
