img118img117Yes, it’s Stonehenge and yes two versions of same painting.  Second one has been cropped to take out the slightly “didn’t really work” stones on the right and some of the foreground.  Best bit for me was the left-hand side.  And I chose Stonehenge because it comes from a certain dark, mysterious age of Britain and it is old.

A venerable oak

A venerable oak

I painted this venerable oak in Bushy Park from life. I wish I had done more of a close up to contentrate on the gnarled bark, because I found the whole tree quite a challenge – especially the change from heavy trunk to the airy leaves. It was painted sitting on the ground trying to hold an umbrella as the showers came over. I have discovered that dogs are art lovers. Every single dog which passed came to have a look and one even drank my water flavoured with paynes grey and burnt umber.

age v-3A tree’s rings to show its age. I wish that we had the same biology, then no one would be able to see how old we are!

Another picture I hate, with one of Mum’s I like

Who's that old lady looking back at me?

AgeA section of the Terracotta Warriors in their trench – one of the more aged things I could think of.
