That's it - I'm finished with this watercolour malarky

It was all Vicky’s fault! I was trying to capture her razor sharp reactions at the net, but she just wouldn’t keep still. Back home I sat down to try and reshape the statuesque pose into something more dynamic and the red mist descended… Maybe its easier to chuck it all in.

Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

I think I can just about get away with this as a picture of reaction, the leaves feeling the cold! I wanted to experiment with the way different colours can run into each other and these leaves were particularly lovely. But I have found it difficult to control and the colours start to feel pushed around rather than merging as they were supposed to do. Any tips would be appreciated.

I cannot compete with the excellent face and head pictures by Sue and Jane so this is quite a simple thing – as ever with me fairly loose wet into wet style.

This is based on what I thought was a very powerful photograph in the paper of OJ Simpson’s reaction to the verdict on his trial. Some of it has worked I think.

I had such fun doing this – I was laughing so much I could hardly sneer. The result is a painting and it’s own review, all in one!
