(Sporting) Heroes_001Although not a fan I admire the grace and athleticism of footballers  - whether they are actually heroes or not is another matter.   I cannot accuse myself of chocolatebox-ism with this picture and have tried to use colour in a bolder way.

Absorption of the gutter with Jade Goody’s terminal illness

I was quite moved by the sadness of this picture – how intrusive of the press to print these images of a dying woman. I tried to capture how she must feel in this picture – I can see there are things wrong technically but this is my first real attempt at such a close up face.

Celebrity or poser?

Celebrity or poser?

Oh the cringing embarrassment of it all. A week late and I still haven’t come up with a worthy subject. I had the bright idea of painting a pineapple as a ‘celebrity fruit’ sitting among other fruit. Unfortunately M&S pienapples are dark green to the point of black, so my celebrity ended up looking more like Darth Vader. The painting was so horrible I am only reproducing a thumbnail here.

I then took to hunting round the house to find a celbrity prop – sunglasses! Having painted them I decided to tackle the subject head on and add a celebrity. The gold tooth resembles a bad tooth and the celebrity is definately b list. Any resemblance to me is purely coincidental!

Oh the pineapple:

Telephone Box outside Hampton Court Palace

Telephone Box outside Hampton Court Palace

I decided to go with a celebrity thing and celebrity building.

Red telephone box (on the corner of Hampton Court) – unfortunately scanner hasn’t picked up all the picture ie the folliage and trees go all the way back, plus there is more colour on the path on the left of the picture. Most difficult bit – writing the word telephone in a small box.

Hampton Court Palace – I’ve run out of time on this. It’s pretty simplistic and the bit on the right is rubbish but maybe there is some potential for the future then again.
