This is my first attempt, hope to improve in time, it’s a steep learning curve. Any suggestions for which topic it should be in, preferably not the bin? bluebells

Yes, I did remove both this and my development picture as I realised they were more works in progress than the finished articles – I’ve darkened the rocks and added texture to the sand in this one.

I had some idea that showing the shadow from the light sources – from the side at the top and from above for the lower one would help the perspectives of my tea cup and saucer.

I will really try to do something “looser” next time.

Bushy Park - Near Diana's Fountain

The third in my Tritypch (see Underground and Development).

With only an hour or so before the impending storm arrived I chose the easy option of Bushy park for my last subject on Perspective. This was a view from the Fountain down the avenue towards Hampton (I am not sure the name of the house at the end).

I worked fast because of the limited time I knew I had and tried to capture the three elements. The light green grass, the leaden sky and the dark trees receding to the white house. To try and get the correct perspective, i held my sketch pad up and ticked off where the lines of site came off the edge of the paper. In doing that i realised that my tendency with perspective is to make it too steep. The field of view is actually much wider and shallower than I expect.

I had no onlookers and finished in half an hour just as the first real rain started. Have resolved to get more colours for my palette. Quite pleased – but then the subject was not difficult to draw.

Here’s the latest effort. I tried very hard to keep it loose in the way the the other Sue manages to do so well. I ended up sloshing so much wet paint around that the paper started to disintegrate! I wanted to get the dark of the living room beyond much darker.

I like the fact that I have only a couple of hours set aside to do this each week, so I just have to get on with it and not worry too much.
