Pollina - Sicily

Sicily again. We had a 14k walk and 3000 ft of ascent to get to Pollina, perched on the top of a rocky outcrop. In the hour we had before the only bus of the day, I chose to paint this street scene mainly for the suitability of the sitting spot. The whole town was a picturesque maze of steepling streets and patchwork coloured buildings. I three quarters finished the painting in an extremely blustery wind before setting off for the bus. The bus didn’t turn up and we had a 14k walk back to our lodgings.
