Sea Holly

This painting is too big to scan, so I took a photo. I tried to do it without flash, but this makes it a bit blurry. I’ll try again in daylight if I have time.

The painting took me ages, and I was really worried about how I was going to make the pale bracts stand out against the wall without making all the background really dark. I started doing it from life and then took a photo, but I pretty much used my magination for the bits that I hadn’t painted outside.

The plant is a lovely self seeder, spectacular for the ease of growing.
